Hello and ciao!
Allow us to introduce ourselves: we are Brenna and Luigi, two New York City transplants who are excited to begin a family. We are honored that you are taking the time to consider our family and hope to have the opportunity to meet you. We hope that learning a bit about us helps make your decision clearer; be that choosing either parenting or adoption.
Brenna is 33 and a special education teacher for preschoolers and infants. Originally from California, she spent the last ten years living in NYC before moving to Colorado. Luigi is 34 and works as an accountant for an agriculture company: we love our vegetables! A full-blooded Italian, he was born and raised in Long Island, New York, and met Brenna when he moved to NYC. We call ourselves a “blended” family as Brenna is an only child of parents who are only children, and Luigi is one of three, with over 50 extended family members! We are also happy owners of a blind dog, Fabio, and a very chubby cat, Lupe.
We have been together for six years and married in December of 2013. We have always wanted grow our family through adoption and it has been our plan for many years. We had hoped to begin the process sooner, but 18 months after our wedding, Brenna was diagnosed with breast cancer. After a year of treatments and surgery, Brenna is now cancer free, healthy, and we are once again excited and hopeful to begin a family.
Both of us love children and in July 2016 we were thrilled to become an aunt and uncle to Luigi’s sister’s little girl. In October 2016, Luigi’s brother and his wife are also expecting and Luigi will be the godfather of their son. With two cousins already in the mix, we know any child we parent will be surrounded with family and friends! As a special education teacher, Brenna has worked with children ages birth to eight with disabilities and they hold a special place in her heart. Many of the children and families she has worked with have become lifelong friends and she has had the pleasure of watching these children grow into beautiful young adults.
We love the outdoors and after a decade of city living have embraced the Colorado lifestyle full force. We look forward to having a child who can join us on our weekly Sunday hikes, paddleboard excursions in Whistlepig Lake, ski trips at Breckenridge, and our new love of the Cheyenne rodeo! This October we are preparing to run the Denver Rock n’ Roll half marathon. We now look for races that allow jogging strollers so we can continue our love of running and make it a family activity. We also love to travel and hope to return to New Zealand to share our love of the kiwi birds and further explore Costa Rica with its many monkeys!
All this traveling makes us hungry; good thing we also love to eat. From food festivals to new restaurants to cooking at home, we have never met a meal we didn’t like. We think it is important to for children to experience different cultures and cuisines and we are always trying something new. Luigi is a fantastic cook with a signature pizza and home-brewed beer. Brenna does all the baking, with a massive love for cookies and anything s’mores flavored.
We lead a happy and full life and we know it will become even more full by having a child with whom we can share all that we love and do. We wish you the best of luck on your journey and hope that, more than anything, you are able to make the decision that is best for you and your child. From our family to yours, thank you again for considering us and best wishes.
