Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us. We are Josh and Melissa, and we currently live in Windsor, CO. I work for State Farm Insurance, and Josh is a Mechanical Engineer for Baker Hughes out of Denver.
Josh and I met in high school and became good friends. I went to Kansas University for college, and Josh attended Colorado State University. We began dating in college, and maintained a long distance relationship for two years. After graduating from KU, I moved back to Colorado to pursue a Masters Degree. We got engaged in 2003 and were married in June of 2004.
We always knew we wanted a family, but we had no idea the difficulties we would face. After many failed infertility treatments, we knew that adoption was the right path for us, and we can’t wait to see where this journey takes us! Through our struggles with infertility, we strengthened our relationship by leaning on one another for support and trusting that our faith would carry us through the hard times.
Our families are very important to us, and we are blessed to live so close to our parents and siblings. I have three older brothers, and Josh has a younger brother and a younger sister. We have a very tight knit group of friends who are like family to us. We spend a lot of time with our friends and family, and they are an amazing support system for us.
We love the outdoors, so Colorado summers are perfect for us! We enjoy having people over for BBQs where we play cornhole and other games. We are huge sports fans, so going to Rockies and Broncos games are some of our favorite things to do. We go camping often, and enjoy hiking with our dogs and playing games by the campfire. We play on a coed softball team every summer with our friends, and in the winter we play coed volleyball. We love playing sports, so coed teams are a fun way for us to stay active together. Josh also plays on a men’s softball team and is part of a men’s golf league in the summer.
I (Melissa) am adopted. My adoption was closed, so my parents had no information about my birthparents for a long time, but I learned that I was adopted at a very young age. I will be forever grateful to my birthparents for the brave and selfless decision they made for me. I was raised by an incredible family, and am so thankful for the life I have. About a year ago, I was able to connect with my biological aunt and uncle, and what a blessing those relationships are! Through my experience, Josh and I have learned how important it is for a child to know where they came from, and our promise is that our child will know that they were placed for adoption because they were loved so very much.
Thank you again for taking the time to get to know us better. We have nothing but admiration and respect for you, and we wish you the very best as you continue this journey.
