Ray & Amber
This is the most important letter we will probably ever write, and how do we put a simple greeting on it? Anything we could put after “Dear” seemed too generic for the feeling we get when we think about you. We can’t imagine the amount of courage and love you have for your child that has led you to this moment. We would like to start off by saying thank you for giving us the opportunity to introduce ourselves to you.
Ray and Amber:
Starting as friends in May of 2006, we quickly fell in love. After dance lessons, ice cream dates, a few dozen movies, camping, hiking, a road trip, and fun-filled trips to local museums, we became engaged on our year anniversary and were married June 7, 2008. We love to go on adventures together (vacations, zip lining, snorkeling), play with our sweet dog Riley, take our nephews on fun outings, and try new restaurants. We are also pretty big fans of cuddle time and a movie night in.
We are very excited to start having adventures as parents to a child. We can’t wait to go to Disney Land, zoo lights, trick or treating, and story time at our local library! We have been on a very long and emotional journey to parenthood. We started this journey shortly after we were married. Life was very confusing for a while when starting a family wasn’t working out, then one day adoption just clicked and life seemed to make sense. We have hope again.
Amber is a Colorado Native, who loves the outdoors. She grew up with horses since she was eight years old and competed in 4-H (a program for kids who get to show horses and other animals, and take on many other projects like photography, leather craft, dance team, etc) for ten years, starting at age nine. If you ask her, she will tell you that 4-H was the best thing that ever happened to her! Horses have always had a very special place in her heart. With the exception of four years along the way, she has had a horse since she was eight. Many of Amber’s friends are from this time in her life. Family and friends are the most important aspects of life. Besides riding her horse, Amber loves to find things to do with her people like play dates with their kids, shopping, dinner theater, pedicures, or coffee. As far back as Amber can remember, being a mother has been the only thing that she has wanted to be “when she grows up,” and she is very excited for the future.
Ray grew up in a small town in Illinois where his love of figuring out not only how things work, but how to make them work better started at a very young age. As a very small boy, he remembers sitting in the open hood of a truck as his dad repaired the engine. Ray now owns a successful construction company that has been in business since 2006 where he gets to show his ability to fix anything. As a kid, he also loved playing sports like baseball and wrestling, which has now transitioned to jiu-jitsu and self defense training. Ray is a certified self defense trainer, and his passion is to teach people, especially women, to protect themselves. Protecting and providing for his family is his top priority.
If you were to choose us, we promise to always honor you. To make sure your child knows their story. To make sure they know from the very start that you are so loving and selfless. We also promise to be open and honest with you always. Have you seen the symbol for adoption? It is a triangle intertwined with a heart. The three sides of the triangle represent the birthparent(s), the adoptive parents, and the child. The heart represents the love that unites them. We hope to have this kind of relationship with the birthparent(s) that choose us.
No matter what your decision is, we wish you the best in your journey. We hope you find what you are looking for and find peace in your decision. Please let us know if you have any questions, we would love to answer them for you.
With much sincerity,
Ray and Amber
