    Types of Adoption:

    Closed Adoption: an adoption where absolutely no identifying information is shared between parties and there is no contact between parties

    Domestic Adoption: refers to a situation where both the child to be adopted and the adoptive family reside in the same country

    Infant Adoption: refers to an adoption of a child younger than one year

    International Adoption: refers to a situation where the child comes from another country.

    Interstate Adoption: refers to a situation where one party resides in Colorado and the other resides in another state.

    Open Adoption: an adoption where identifying information is shared between parties and there is direct contact between parties.

    Private Adoption: in Colorado, refers to adoptions done by agencies other than the Department of Human Services

    Public Adoption: in Colorado, refers to adoptions done by the Department of Human Services

    Semi-Open Adoption: an adoption where limited information is shared by parties and there is no direct contact between the birth parents and the adoptive parents. The adoption agency assumes the role of intermediary.
