Chris & Kayla

Dear Birth Parents,

Hello! We are Chris and Kayla. First, we want to thank you for considering our family. Adoption creates a special bond that can unite families, and we know how momentous this decision is.  We hope our story helps you make
the best choice for you and your child, whatever that may be.

We are high school sweethearts from Fort Collins. We met on a high school trip to Chicago, and we’ve chosen to stay close to our families as we’ve built our life together. Chris is a computer programmer whose biggest hobby is learning a new hobby—ham radio, baking, biking, gardening, learning Japanese… he loves new experiences. Kayla is a high school history teacher who loves to read and go to concerts. We enjoy camping and rarely miss our team’s weekly trivia night.

In 2023, we welcomed our son Orion through adoption. It has been such an honor to build a family for Ori. Many of our family members are adopted, so we thought we knew what to expect—and we are still blown away by the gift we’ve been given. Choosing an adoptive family for your child is the most selfless act a parent can do, and we work every day to match the love Ori’s birth mother gave him.

We talk a lot about the kind of family we want to be. Chris is both goofy and nurturing, best at creating the deep belly laughs and corny joke eyerolls.  He’s also the first to tackle the (literal) dirty work of parenthood. Kayla’s arms provide the encouragement to try something new and the comfort at the end of a long day. She creates the new experiences that enrich minds at home and at school. More than anything, we try to create a community of family and friends that understand adoption so that our son knows he is always connected to others.

Though we haven’t met, you are in our hearts. We’re sending you all our best wishes of hope, strength, and clarity. Thank you for taking the time to consider our family.

With love,

Kayla, Chris, and Ori
