Hi, we are the Ricker family, and our life is an open book – so jump in and take a good look around! But most importantly, enjoy the ride – because we certainly are. We are blessed and happy in the life we share together and want so much to grow our family. We are excited about our decision to adopt – for us the choice was an easy one, as adoption is close to both of our hearts. Emilie’s father was adopted into a wonderful family, and she also has an incredible foster sister. Both of these experiences have been overwhelmingly positive and been very special to her family. We believe it is a huge privilege to become adoptive parents and we accept our responsibilities to you and your child with the utmost respect and commitment. We know that adoption is a very special way to create a family filled with unconditional love and support.
As parents, we plan to honor and respect your relationship to your child through open discussions, a life-book, and talking about you and your family. We believe it’s important to discuss adoption with a child from an early age and we’re comfortable with whatever level of openness you’d like to have, whether it be exchanging photos, phone calls, emails, or visits.
We have two sons – three-year-old Declan is sweet, curious, energetic, and loving his new role as big brother to baby Callan, who we welcomed in February. We love spending time together as a family as much as we can, and enjoying the outdoors is our favorite pastime.
Aaron is a military veteran, and works from home in sales and marketing while Emilie stays home with the little ones. This allows us to spend a lot of time together as a family, which is the primary reason we moved from New York City to Colorado in 2014. Though Aaron grew up on a ranch in Kansas, and Emilie grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, this country boy and city girl met while they were both living in New York City. While we loved a lot of the city life, we moved to Colorado to enjoy a more family-centric lifestyle and be in the outdoors as much as possible. We love raising our family in the small town of Parker, which allows us access to the mountains, has lots of farms and open space, but is close enough to Denver to enjoy some of the culture and fun that the city has to offer. We are fortunate to have a large yard backing to green space, in a neighborhood with a wonderful school district, in a town where everyone watches out for one another, and love raising our children here.
We enjoy hiking in the summer, snowshoeing in the winter, and exploring Colorado as much as possible. Declan loves climbing every rock and tree he can find on all of our adventures! He also loves reading and anything involving art, especially stickers and paint!
Aaron and Emilie both grew up in big families, surrounded by lots of activity and love. We are lucky to have a great support system through our large families and those close friends who we consider family. We can’t wait to expand our growing family, and share all of the blessings and love we have. Thank you for your consideration, we hope this gives you a little glimpse into our lives!
