Alana, Braelyn & Jaques
Hello Birth Parents!
Oh my goodness . . . we have been having so much fun putting this letter together. It’s a unique challenge. We keep wondering
what the most important details are to share with you; what you’ll be most interested in or find most valuable.
We hope you enjoy reading it and send you the best wishes in this undeniably HUGE process.
A little about us . . .
We were set up on a blind date in 2007. A year a half later we were married. A year after that we joined the Peace Corps
and lived in the Philippines for 27 months. We had the opportunity to travel for 4 months once we completed our service.
We love adventure.
And now, our greatest adventure to date, was adopting our daughter Braelyn. She was born January 2015. She has changed our
lives in the most exciting, and hilarious, ways. She’s two years old now with a ton of energy and the climbing skills of a monkey. She
keeps us on our toes and we wouldn’t have it any other way. She seems to love adventure, too.
We are so ready to continue growing our family and can’t wait to see Braelyn get to be ‘Big Sis’.
Since before we were married, we’ve known we wanted to adopt children.
Jacques was adopted when he was one week old. Two years later . . . and then again 6 years later . . . he returned to the same adoption agency to meet his brothers, so adoption has been a gift in his family. As a couple, we agreed we wanted adoption to be a part of our
family story (we decided this before we were even married).
What we do . . .
Before our Peace Corps experience, Jacques worked at Eagle Rock School as a wilderness instructor. Eagle Rock is a boarding school in Estes Park for students from all over the country that will not graduate high school for a variety of reasons.
After Peace Corps, Jacques returned to Eagle Rock, this time as the Resident Life Coordinator. He is very passionate about education and loves the opportunities to help young people change their lives. Currently, Jacques is home taking care of Braelyn, helping Alana with her business, and developing skills as an investor.
Alana was a middle school counselor before the Peace Corps. She loved leading youth groups, working with parents/teachers,and coaching basketball, softball, volleyball, and track. She always dreamed of running her own business. Upon our return from the Peace Corps, it felt like the perfect time for her to see if she could make her dream a reality. She is currently running a wellness
coaching business called the Intentional Living Project J.
Having been through the adoption process with Braelyn, her Birth Mom, and Adoption Dreams Come True, we know what an unbelievable process this is and will not pretend it’s easy, especially for you. We want to say thank you for your courage and strength.
