Carissa's Story I was nervous and I don’t know why, but right when I saw them together (the adoptive family), just entering through the door, all the nervousness and all the butterflies went away. All of a sudden I just wanted to go right up to them and hug them. I couldn’t understand why I just wanted to get up and hug them and tell them yes.
In my head, as they were talking, I thought they looked so connected. They just looked as though they were one, like how I pictured a married couple, a father and mother, to look like. The whole entire time they were talking, in my head I was just like, “They are it. I already found them, I don’t need to look anymore.” I had started with another agency before Adoption Dreams Come True and it didn’t feel right. It seemed a little bit more business, like “we’ve got to get this baby and here’s what we want you to do.” And when I had spoken about Tori and Greg and showed an interest in them, they were like, “you know, it might not work right off the bat.” So I was just like, yeah, I don’t like them (the agency).
Within probably like a month, I told Tori. It was awesome. Her face just lit up, it was like a kid in a candy store. We went for ice cream, we went for tacos and all my crazy little cravings. She listened and there was no judgment at all. It was like pure love and I still see that and feel that today. I just kept having to keep that constant contact with Tori and let her know how I was feeling and not hold any secrets back - I felt my relationship had to be about honesty.
It was so amazing, as soon as he was born, when he heard Tori and Greg’s voices, he turned in their direction. Yeah, so right then and there it was like another “A-Hah” moment for me that I had made the right choice. I have no regrets, all I look back on are the beautiful moments I was able to spend with him in my stomach and just me talking to his parents and us getting ready for this journey together as a whole family. Now I look at family as something different than what I thought it was.
Oh my gosh I would recommend Adoption Dreams Come True to anyone who was looking into adoption or anyone looking to adopt. I had actually recommended them to my church because they have an adoption group. Adoption Dreams Come True make it feel like family and friendship more than an agency.

Shea's Story My name is Shea and I decided to work with Adoption Dreams Come True. After researching three adoption agencies, one never called me back, and the other one was not quite what I was looking for. A week after I found out that I was pregnant, I walked in through the door and met Cindy and Monica, and they were comforting and helpful and encouraging, which is something that I needed at the time, if you can imagine.
They helped me figure out why I wanted to go with adoption, and while we were working with that and filling out paperwork, they handed me a stack of profiles, photo albums essentially, of all these adoptive families that wanted a child. I spent weeks and weeks going through them and brought them home to my parents to help me decide. It was a little overwhelming, but in the end, with the help of my parents, I was able to narrow it down to three families.
I picked Jill and Cory, and sat there while they got the phone call, and that was pretty amazing to listen to. They were gracious and graceful, and all around just lovely people. They were funny, which I appreciated a lot, and intelligent, capable, and loving to each other. That is what I really wanted to give to my daughter – a family that was an actual family that cared for her and could give her everything she needed and deserved to have. The things that I wasn’t able to give to her.
Adoption Dreams Come True was pretty wonderful through the entire process. There was a lot of papers for me to sign, and some drama, which there is always going to be in these types of situations, but they smoothed the path and got us through it comfortably and safely and happily. They were willing to come get me at 3:00 in the morning when I decided to go into labor, and Monica and Cindy were both there. We cried together, it was a great bonding experience, and Jill and Cory were also there which was really important to me. I wanted them to be able to share that experience and know Ashley from the very beginning of her life. The greatest benefit I think I have gotten from Adoption Dreams Come True is the chance to give my daughter a family that she deserved to have, and I can’t thank them enough for that opportunity.
Jennifer's Story My name is Jennifer, I’m 17, and I’m a junior in high school. I got pregnant and it was really hard because I didn’t plan for it. I didn’t tell my mom or any of my family and friends just because it was a situation that was really hard. I didn’t know when I was due or what I was going to do. It was really hard for me to do my pregnancy alone, especially going into labor. Then I met Cindy and she was really great because, even though I didn’t know her, she supported me through my decision and she made it easier for me to give my baby up for adoption. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done but it is the best thing because it’s a better future for her, better than anything that I could have given her.
Through this entire process, Cindy was such a great help in telling me and reassuring me what I was doing was right and no matter what I did, it was going to be the right thing. The family I chose was Brian and Karrie My adoption is an open adoption and I got to choose what family I thought was the best fit for my baby and the people I think would love her. I’m just so grateful that I got to choose the family and that no one had to make the decision for me. I got to see and read profiles about so many different families. It’s just something that makes it easier for me, just knowing who they are and knowing where they live. It makes my grief go away because I know that they will let me see her and I know that they care about her and I know that they are going to let me be a part of her life, something that I might have not been able to do if I had a closed adoption.
I really don’t know how I could have done it alone, and even though sometimes it’s hard saying goodbye again, I know it’s the best thing for her. It’s not what I want, it’s what is best for her.
