Lori, Brett & Kai
Thank you for taking the time in your journey to consider us by viewing our portfolio. We are Brett, Lori, Kai and our furry one is Ivy!
We were married in 2008, and have known each other since we were just 9 years old! We started our journey with Adoption Dreams Come True in 2012, which brought our beautiful baby boy Kai into our lives August 22, 2013! Kai is the love of our lives and definitely keeps us on our toes! We chose Adoption Dreams Come True due to the support they provided for birth parents. We are so thrilled with this decision because the journey of open adoption, which is what we have embarked on with Kai’s birth parents is beautiful, yet emotional and the support and guidance ADCT provided was extremely helpful in building our relationship with Kai’s birth parents. We knew Kai’s birth parents for less than 2 weeks before he entered our world. The connection and bond that was built in that short amount of time was unlike anything we had ever experienced. The ongoing relationship we have with them is also unlike anything we have ever experienced. The love that our baby has and the assurance that he will always know and experience this love from all sides is incredible. We are very blessed and fortunate to be a part of something so special.
We are both very close to our families, spending lots of time with all of them as they live throughout Colorado. There are a total of 7 sisters between the two of us, with a total of 10 nieces and nephews that we love to spend time with and another on the way! Because we’ve always had strong family bonds, we always pictured ourselves having a family. Once Kai came into our lives, we knew we wanted him to experience the beauty of a sibling relationship. The enjoyment we get from being parents to Kai is something we thought we wouldn’t be able to experience and now that we are lucky enough to have the opportunity we would love to have another child.
We love Colorado. Lori is a native, and Brett is pretty close, living here since he was just 6 weeks old. The beauty of Colorado is something we don’t take for granted. We take advantage as often as we can by exploring and enjoying the outdoors. Kai got to go camping for the first time this past summer! We get out as often as we can going hiking, attending outdoor festivals, and of course trips to the zoo! We are both basketball fanatics and sports fans in general, but basketball is our first love. We are huge Denver Nuggets fans, rarely missing a game on TV and attending as many as we can in person. Kai got to go to his first games this season and he loved it! He always watches games at home with us so to see it in person was very different for him. The smiles and looks of bewilderment were something we will never forget. We both played sports in high school so continuing to be active and pass that on to Kai has been very special. Lori took many road trips as a child and some of her best childhood memories surround these trips. We have taken Kai on several adventures thus far and look forward to taking many more as a family in the future. Experiencing new places, cultures, foods, music and making new traditions are great passions of ours.
We have always considered adoption as a way to build our family, and after years of trying to build our family naturally without resulting in a pregnancy, we now feel adoption is our “natural” path to building our family. We are very excited about expanding our family, and giving Kai a wonderful brother or sister. The love we have received from our families and the importance of family, love and respect that have been passed down to us only ignite the desire to pass those traits down to our children. Sharing with them everything we were fortunate enough to experience and continue to experience is something we are looking forward to.
Again, we want to thank you for taking the time to view our portfolio and for considering us. Please know that we understand this is a long emotional journey and your bravery and selflessness to have come to this decision warms our hearts. If we get the opportunity to meet you along the way we can’t wait, if not we wish you the best as you continue on your journey. Thank you again.
Brett, Lori, and Kai Whipple
